Conversations in English

From my own experience in language learning, I know that a formal class is not always what people want.  Sometimes you just want to have a natural conversation about things that interest you so that you feel more able to converse freely with friends or colleagues. Therefore, I also offer half-hour conversation sessions.  These are unstructured, with no set materials, but will build your confidence when it comes to having conversations in real life.

Teaching Style

I specialise in teaching General and Business English and have completed specialist courses in Business English as well as Online Teaching, which is coming to be the norm at the moment.  It also has it's benefits.

My classes are one to one and follow a Before, During, and After programme, whereby I will prepare material for you to look at before class, we will have a 30 minute class focussing on this subject, mostly speaking and listening based, and I will give you homework to practice the necessary reading and writing skills after class.

I find this method to be very effective as it gives students all the time they need to be prepared for the lesson, and to reconcile what they've learnt at their own pace.

Writing in English

Before discovering teaching, my first speciality was in writing.  After gaining an  Honours degree in Creative Writing, I went onto write a novel, short stories, book reviews, and political and social commentary.  My grasp of the written English language is therefore great, and also, something I really enjoy, so I offer as part of my services:

Editing - If you would like a piece of writing to be fine-tuned into perfect English that conveys the message you would like to put across, I will edit it for you, and explain the changes I have made, including how the tone of the writing has been affected.

Short Stories - Being a visual learner myself, I understand that for some people, the easiest way to learn is by reading.  It can also be the most enjoyable.  So I combine my creative writing and teaching experience to create personalised stories/articles that are level appropriate and focus on what you want or need to know.
